The river witch

The River Witch is a magical family play set along a coastal river in Suffolk, featuring puppetry, local animals, and a mysterious woman the nearby town may—or may not—be right to call a witch. When the river begins acting strangely, a curious child and a chorus of creatures embark on a journey to uncover the truth . . . before it’s too late.

Running at 45 minutes, The River Witch will make its debut at INK Festival in April 2026 as the festival’s first-ever family play.

Written and directed by Phoebe Segal, the play explores the “othering” of people and nature, and the courage it takes to confront our own fears and prejudices by discovering the world anew.
